The yard at 98, Pathanapuram Main Road in Karavoor is usually a mess of gravel and water. That’s just the nature of working with concrete at Six Seasons Concretex Pvt. Ltd. We have these big mixers that make a lot of noise, so we have to shout sometimes to hear each other over the engines. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear your best shoes. There’s always a bit of mud or wet cement somewhere on the ground. We spend our days watching the weather and trying to get the batches right. If it rains too hard, everything slows down and we end up sitting in the small office drinking tea and waiting for it to pass. The office is small and the windows are usually a bit streaky from the dust outside. We have a big map on the wall that shows all the local roads we cover. Most of our drivers have been with us for years and they know the shortcuts around Karavoor better than anyone. We don't bother with fancy advertising because the work usually speaks for itself when people see the trucks on the road. It’s a tough job and the hours can be long when we have a big pour to finish. But we just get on with it. It’s what we do here on the main road, and we’ve gotten pretty used to the daily grind.
