Vineet And Daughter'S Design

Our place is in the Girikunj Apartment, Flat B412, over on S N Roy Road in New Alipore. It is a family thing, Vineet And Daughter'S Design. We work right from where we are living. It is not like those big design firms with the glass walls and fancy receptionists. Sometimes the dining table becomes the work table when we have a big project to finish. We spend a lot of time looking at patterns and colors for the homes we work on. My daughter has a much better eye for the modern stuff, while I tend to stick to what I have known for years. It is a good mix for our clients. New Alipore is a nice, quiet place compared to the rest of Kolkata. We take our time with things because you cannot rush design or it ends up looking messy. We have had clients come over and just sit on the sofa while we go through fabric samples together. It is very informal and friendly. Sometimes the printer jams right when we need to show a sketch, and we all just have to laugh about it. That is just life in a small family business. We do the work ourselves, from the first drawing to the final setup in the room. It is a lot of back and forth, but we like it. We do not have any big slogans. We just like making spaces look decent and functional.
