Trisneha Handlooms Private Limited is located at 174 Rabindra Sarani, which is right in the heart of Kolkata. If you know Rabindra Sarani, you know it is one of the oldest and most crowded streets in the city. It is full of history and old buildings that have seen a lot over the years. Our shop is one of those places. It is not very big, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it is where we do our work. We deal with handlooms, which is a slow process compared to how things are done in big factories. You can’t rush it. We spend our time checking the threads and making sure the looms are working right. The noise from the street is always there—the trams, the rickshaws, and the people shouting—but it is just part of the background for us. We have been at this for a while and we do not feel the need to act like we are some big, fancy company. We are just a local business in 700007. Sometimes we sit on the stools out front and watch the world go by when things are a bit quiet. It is a very traditional way of working, and we like the feel of the fabric in our hands. We do not have any big mission statements. We just show up and do the weaving because that is what we know how to do.
