The Krane & Winches

Started small in Canning Street. Room 24 on the second floor is where we keep the paperwork. It's busy here, typical for this part of town. Mostly we deal with lifting equipment, the kinds of things builders or factory guys need. It’s heavy work. People come in looking for specific parts for their cranes or winches, and we try to find what they need in the ledger or the back. It’s a bit dusty, but we know where everything is. My father started things, and now I’m here. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Just the office and some storage. Sometimes the lift in the building is temperamental, so you might have to take the stairs. It keeps us moving. We deal with local shops mostly. If a winch breaks down on a job site, they call us to see what's in stock. We don't do big ads. Just word of mouth around the street. It’s been that way for a long time. Some days are slow, others we can't get off the phone. That's just how business goes. We stay till the work is done. It’s practical, honest work. Nothing too complicated, just cranes and parts. We have some old catalogues we still use to look up part numbers because the old machines are still out there working. It's just a regular office in a building that's seen a lot of history.
