The Comfort Inn

Our building on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road has seen a lot of people come and go over the years. It is a typical Kolkata street, full of yellow taxis and people walking fast. Inside, we try to keep things a bit more relaxed. We have a lobby where people wait for their rooms and a small area for breakfast in the morning. The elevator is a bit old and makes a humming sound, but it gets you where you need to go. We spend our days checking people in, answering the phone, and making sure the linens are fresh. It is not a glamorous job, but we like meeting the different people who stay with us. Some are here for work and others are just visiting the city for the first time. We try to give them directions when they get lost, which happens quite a bit in this neighborhood. The rooms are simple. We don't have a lot of extra stuff that people don't need. It is just a place to sleep and wash up. We keep the floors mopped and the windows cleaned, though the city dust always finds its way back in. We are just a small team of people trying to make sure our guests have a place to stay that feels alright. No big stories or fancy talk, just a hotel on a busy road. We just keep the doors open and the lights on.
