The shop is tucked right there on Dumdum Road, and if you've ever been around here, you know how noisy it gets with all the buses and rickshaws going past. We’ve been at Shop No. 207 for a long time. It’s not a huge space, just a regular shop where we keep our stock and talk to the people who walk in off the street. Some days it’s really quiet and we just sit there watching the traffic, and other days everyone seems to come in at the same time wanting something. We don't really do much advertising or anything. People usually find us because they're walking by or they heard about us from a neighbor. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we've been too busy to get around to it. It’s just a local spot. We keep things simple. Most of the day is spent checking the inventory or cleaning the glass counters because the dust from the road is constant. It’s part of the job, I guess. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, so we often grab tea from the stall nearby when things are slow. It’s a basic life, running a shop on Dumdum Road, but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the neighborhood here. We just open up in the morning and stay until late, then go home and do it all again.
