Our office is up on the 7th floor of Marshal House, which is a big old building at 25 Strand Road. Ershisanye Construction Group India Pvt. Ltd. takes up Room Number-734, and it’s quite a climb if the elevator is acting up, which happens more often than we’d like it to. From our window, you can see the rooftops and the busy street below where everything is constantly moving. Inside the room, it’s mostly just stacks of blueprints and rolls of paper leaning against the walls. We have a few computers that stay on all day and a coffee pot that is almost always empty. The air in the building feels thick with history, and you can hear the footsteps of people passing in the hallway. We spend our hours coordinating with sites and checking on materials, so there is a lot of shouting across the room to ask about this or that. It is not the quietest place to work, but we like being in the middle of everything on Strand Road. The desks are covered in pens and rulers and half-finished notes on yellow pads. By the time evening rolls around, we are usually just finishing up the last bits of paperwork before heading back down to the street level to catch the bus or a taxi. It is a lot of coordination and phone calls, but we have a rhythm that works for our small team.
