South End

South End is based out of D/91, Baghajatin Palli, right near Jadavpur University. Being near the university means there is always a lot of energy around, and we get quite a few people dropping by. We aren't a massive company with hundreds of employees. It’s just a few of us here making sure things run properly every day. Our focus is mainly on catering and food for the folks in this part of town. The shop at Baghajatin Palli is where we do all our thinking and most of our cooking. It’s a simple setup, nothing that would win any design awards, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time talking to the local suppliers to get what we need. Sometimes the delivery truck is late or we run out of something, and we have to scramble, but that’s just life in a small business. We don’t use any big words to describe ourselves. We just provide food when people have a reason to get together. Most of our customers are students or families who live in the surrounding streets. They know where to find us if they need something for a small get-together. We like staying local and knowing the faces of the people we are cooking for. It makes the long hours feel a bit more personal and worth the effort. We’ve been here at D/91 for a while and plan to stay for much longer.
