About Siddhartha's Exports – Exim Trade in Kolkata
We set up shop at Flat Number 3 on the first floor of 11 Pottery Road. It’s more of a converted space than a traditional office, which gives it a bit of a lived-in feel. We’ve got stacks of crates in one corner and desks in the other. Working on Pottery Road means we’re right in the middle of things, which helps when we need to coordinate with transporters. The traffic can be a nightmare in the evenings, but we’re usually deep into paperwork by then. We handle various goods for export, and it’s a lot of manual checking. We look at every item before it goes into a box. It’s tedious, but we’d rather catch a mistake here than have a customer find it later. We don't have any flashy signs outside. Most people find us because they were told where to look. The kettle is almost always on because we drink way too much coffee to stay alert. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids are playing in the hallway, adding to the noise. It’s not a silent, sterile environment. It’s just a place where work gets done by people who’ve been doing this for years. We focus on the practical side of things, like making sure the weights are accurate and the addresses are clear. There is always a bit of dust on the shelves, but we try to keep the important stuff clean and organized.
