You can find us right on M. G. Road in Kolkata, near the Gurudwara. It is a very old part of the city and the traffic is always loud outside. We are on the ground floor at number 174. It’s a busy spot. We trade cotton, which means a lot of phone calls and checking prices. The office is small and usually filled with the smell of tea and old paper. Kolkata is a city where things move at their own pace. We have been sitting in this same spot for a long time. People drop in to talk about the market or just to say hello. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We have fans humming overhead and piles of ledgers on the wooden desks. Dealing with cotton traders from all over requires a bit of patience. Sometimes the rain floods the street a little, but we stay open. My family has been involved in trading for years. We don't have a fancy website or big advertisements. Most people find us because they know where the building is. We just focus on the daily buying and selling. It’s a simple life. We start early in the morning and close up when the sun goes down and the street lights come on. It’s just how we do things here in this corner of the city.
