Shilpi

We've been here at the Municipal Market Complex for quite some time now. If you know the Station Road area in Sodepur, you know how busy it gets, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing to catch the train. Our shop, Shilpi, is right in the middle of all that noise and activity. It’s a small space, Ga-15 to be exact, but we make it work. Most days it's just us sorting through things and making sure everything is where it should be. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the ceiling fan makes a bit of a rattling sound when it's on high, but it’s home for us. We see the same faces every day, people going to work or coming back from the market with their bags full. It’s not a fancy place by any means. We don’t have air conditioning, so we keep the door open to get whatever breeze comes through from the street. Sometimes the rain splashes inside a bit if the wind is blowing the wrong way. We just wipe it up and keep going. Dealing with the 24 Pgs(N) humidity isn't always easy, but we are used to it by now. We focus on getting the work done and talking to whoever walks in. It’s just a regular local business trying to keep things moving. There isn't much more to it than that, really. We just show up, do what needs doing, and close up when the sun goes down.
