Shellac Export Promotion Council

Our office is on the second floor at 1/1 Wood Street. It is an older building and the stairs can be a bit much on a hot day, but it has been our home for a long time. At Shellac Export Promotion Council, we spend most of our time dealing with the ins and outs of the shellac trade. There is actually a lot of history with this material in our region. We help out with the export side of things, making sure the local traders know what the current rules are. It is a lot of filing and making phone calls to different departments. Our office is pretty simple and not very modern, but we have everything we need to do the job. People come in all the time to ask about their paperwork or how to get their products to different countries. We try to give them the right information without making everything sound too complicated or technical. The mornings are usually quiet, which gives us time to catch up on the mail, but it picks up a lot by the afternoon. Wood Street is always busy with traffic and people rushing around outside. We have been here quite some time and have seen the neighborhood change. Shellac is a bit of a niche business, so we mostly talk to the same group of people. We just keep our heads down and try to be helpful to anyone who walks through the door.
