Shaw Auto Earth Movers

People know this part of North Kolkata for being crowded, but we’ve been at 7 Sooterkin Street for a long time now. It’s right near Bentinck Street and the Chowringhee side of things. Most days it’s just us dealing with whatever heavy machinery parts come through the door. It gets dusty and the traffic outside never really stops, but that is just how things go here. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. It’s a practical space where we keep our inventory and talk to the guys who actually operate these machines. Usually, someone drops by because they need something specific for an earth mover and they heard we might have it. We spend a lot of our morning just sorting through things and making sure the numbers match up. Sometimes the lights flicker when it rains hard, which happens a lot in this city. You get used to the noise of the horns and the people walking by outside. We aren’t trying to be anything other than a local spot where people can find what they need for their equipment. It’s mostly about knowing where every part is on the shelves, even if it looks messy to someone else. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, but our shop stays pretty much the same. It’s just work. We show up, open the shutters, and see who needs help with their gear that day.
