Shankar Engineering Co.

Shankar Engineering Co. has been on Jogmaya Devi Lane for quite some time. It’s a narrow street, so it can be a bit of a squeeze getting larger materials in here, but we manage. The building is old, and you can see the history in the walls and the floors. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anyone sitting at a front desk. If you walk in, you’ll probably find us covered in dust or oil. We do a lot of different engineering jobs, mostly for the locals and some businesses nearby. It's a small operation, just a handful of us working together. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, chatting until it comes back on. That's just how things go around here. We’ve known the neighbors for years. There’s a certain way we like to do things, and it might not be the fastest way, but it works for us. We use machines that have been around for decades because they still get the job done right. It’s not about being the biggest shop in town. We just want to do the work and go home. Jogmaya Devi Lane is our home, and we like the pace of it. It’s steady and predictable. We don't use any fancy software for our designs, just paper and pencil mostly. It keeps things simple and we don't have to worry about computers crashing or the internet being down.
