Sajal Chakraborty

Working out of 217, Aurobindo Sarani is quite an experience because it is right in the middle of Shyampukur. Sajal Chakraborty is the name on the door. We are very close to Khanna Cinema Hall, so there is always a lot of energy and people moving around outside. The building is older, which gives it some character, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb. Inside, it’s mostly just Sajal and a couple of others helping out. We deal with whatever comes our way that day. It might be some legal papers or just general advice people need. The street noise is constant, but it becomes like background music after a few months. We don't have a polished waiting room or fancy coffee machines. Usually, we just offer a glass of water and get straight to talking. It’s a small operation here in North Kolkata. We like being near Khanna because it makes it easy for people to find us. Just tell the rickshaw driver to drop you near the cinema and you are basically there. Most days are spent looking over files and making sure everything is in order. It’s a simple setup and we don't feel the need to change it much. We know the shopkeepers nearby and often see the same faces every day. That’s just how things are at this office on Aurobindo Sarani, right in the heart of the city bustle.
