Working out of Kasturi Apartments in Kasba is a bit different than having a shop on the main road. Design A is tucked away on the third floor, specifically Floor No. 308 at No. 4 J. B. Lane. It’s a quiet spot for the most part, which is good because designing things requires a lot of thinking and staring at sketches. I’ve got my table set up near the window so I can see the street below. Most of the time, the room is a mess of papers, fabric swatches, and half-drawn ideas. It’s not a corporate office with a receptionist. You just come up the stairs and knock on the door. I started this because I always liked making things look better than I found them. My friends used to ask me for help with their projects, and eventually, it became a real thing. Kasba is a nice area, even if J.B. Lane is a bit narrow. Sometimes the courier gets lost trying to find the building, but we’re used to it. The space is small, but every inch is used for something. I have a lot of samples taking up the shelves. It’s just me here most days, sometimes a helper if there's a big deadline. We don't do much advertising; people usually just find us by word of mouth or seeing what we've made for someone else. It feels more like a workshop than an office. We just do our work here.
