S. M. Chopra & Sons

Our shop, S. M. Chopra & Sons, is right at 16 B.R.B. Basu Road on Canning Street. We are up on the first floor in an old part of the city where the buildings have a lot of history. If you walk up the stairs, you’ll find us surrounded by stacks of ledgers and various goods. We’ve been running things here for a long time, and it’s always been a family-run kind of place. The wooden floors creak a bit when you walk across them, and there is always a faint smell of old paper and dust in the air. We don’t go in for all the new decorations or flashy signs. Instead, we have the same heavy desks that have been here since my father's time. Customers come in and sit down for a bit of tea while we talk about what they need. It’s a slow, steady pace compared to the hectic markets outside. We spend our mornings checking the inventory and the afternoons dealing with the accounts. Sometimes the neighbors from the other offices drop by just to chat about the weather or the local news. It’s a tight-knit community on this floor. We aren't trying to be anything big or fancy; we just keep the doors open and make sure our regular clients get what they came for. It’s just how we’ve always operated in this little corner of Canning Street.
