Our office is located in Regent House at 12, Govt. Place (East). We are on the first floor, which is convenient since the old building doesn't always have the fastest way up. Being in such a central part of the city means there’s always something happening outside. You can see people rushing to their own jobs from our windows. The rooms have high ceilings, the kind you don't really see in newer buildings anymore. It makes the place feel bigger than it actually is. We deal with imports and exports, so there are always stacks of documents and ledgers lying around. The wooden floors creak a bit when you walk over the spots that have worn down. We don't have any fancy signs or modern art on the walls. It’s mostly just maps and some old photos we found. The light coming in from Govt. Place is good in the morning, but by the afternoon we have to turn on the lamps to see what we are reading. We share the floor with a few other businesses, so you hear doors opening and closing in the hallway all day. It’s a professional enough environment but it feels lived in. We’ve got a small area for making tea and coffee, which gets a lot of use. It’s a solid, old-fashioned office where we just get on with things without much fuss or bother from anyone else.
