Working out of 60/A Topsia Road means we are right in the thick of it. If you know this part of Kolkata, you know it is all about the leather trade. Our building is usually busy with people coming and going all day long. We have been in this spot for a bit, handling the leather side of the business. It is noisy outside with the traffic and the horns, but that is just how Topsia is. Inside, we have stacks of material and ledgers everywhere. We don't really go for anything fancy here. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint but we are more focused on the work at hand. Most of our day is spent checking the quality of the hides and making sure the orders are ready for the trucks. It gets quite hot in the summer months, especially with the machines running, but we have the fans going full blast. We are just a local team trying to keep the business moving forward. We know most of the neighbors on the road and sometimes we stop for a quick chat while the loading is happening. It’s a lot of manual work and keeping track of numbers. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that, just us making sure the leather gets to where it needs to be on time. It is a practical life and we like it that way.
