Operating out of Flat J 4 in Park End Apartment is a bit different from working in one of those big glass buildings downtown. Being on Rajkumar Chatterjee Lane means we’re right in the middle of a regular Kolkata neighborhood, which has its own charm. It feels more like a home than a typical office most of the time. You hear the local sounds from the street, like the tea sellers and the traffic, while we're sitting at our desks. We have a few rooms set up for the team, and it definitely gets a little cramped when everyone is in at the same time. The small kitchen area is usually where we end up talking about the day’s tasks or what happened over the weekend. It’s not a fancy setup with modern art, but it gets the job done for what we do here at Pricewaterhousecoopers. Sometimes the lift in the apartment is a bit slow or stops on the wrong floor, so we just take the stairs to save time. Most of us live fairly close by in the city, which makes the commute a bit more bearable. We don't have big flashy logos on the front door, just a small nameplate so people know they’ve found the right flat. It’s a quiet spot for the most part, unless there’s a festival day or a wedding nearby. We just handle our daily business here, keeping track of things and making sure we don't miss any of those important deadlines. It’s a practical way to work without all the noise and fuss.
