Our work happens at 1 A Chatanya Seth Street, right near the UTI Bank in the Burabazar area of Kolkata. If you know Burabazar, you know it is one of the busiest and most crowded parts of the city. There is a constant energy here, with traders and shoppers moving about at all hours. Our office is a bit of a sanctuary from that chaos, though we can still hear the honking and the shouting from the street. We have a lot of physical files here because of the nature of the work, so shelves are pretty much full. The team works closely together, often shouting questions across the room instead of sending long emails. It is a very practical way of doing things. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture, just the basics that allow us to sit and work for eight or nine hours a day. Finding a good place for lunch is never a problem in Burabazar, as there are food vendors everywhere selling all kinds of local dishes. We are used to the noise and the pace of this neighborhood. Our office isn't about looking perfect; it is about being functional and helping us get through the pile of work we have. We don't use marketing slogans or try to impress anyone. We just focus on the numbers and the paperwork that keep the business running from this small corner of Kolkata.
