Isha Elastomers Pvt. Ltd. is over at 30A Pramatha Chowdhary Sarani. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road but everyone knows the spot. Usually, the morning starts with the sound of the shutters going up and the staff dragging their bikes into the small parking area. We deal with a lot of rubber and industrial parts here, so the smell is something you just get used to after a week or so. Most days are just spent looking at order sheets and making sure the inventory matches what’s on the computer. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, especially when the machines are all running at the same time. We usually take a break around four for some tea from the stall around the corner. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they’ve been that same shade of off-white for as long as I can remember. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time navigating the lane because it’s a bit narrow, but we manage. It’s a busy place and there’s always something that needs fixing or moving around. We’ve got a few old desks and some filing cabinets that have seen better days, but they do the job. People come in and out all day asking about different types of elastomers and we just show them what we have in stock. It’s not fancy, just a regular place where work gets done every single day. We stay until the light starts to fade.
