Our travel shop is located at 17 D Bose Para Lane in the Baghbazar area of Kolkata. It’s a very traditional neighborhood with narrow lanes and a lot of history. You can find us right in the middle of it, where people are always walking by on their way to the ghats or the market. We mostly help people with train tickets and bus bookings for their trips. A lot of our customers are elderly neighbors who don't like using the internet and prefer to come in for a chat while we book their seats. We have a couple of computers and a printer that usually makes a lot of noise. The walls are covered with old calendars and some maps. It’s not a big fancy travel agency; it’s just a small room where we sit and try to find the best routes for people. Sometimes it’s hard to get a connection or the booking site crashes, but we just try again until it works. We’ve been here for quite some time, and we’ve seen how people’s travel habits have changed. Even with all the new apps, people still drop in to ask for advice on where to stay or how to get somewhere. We like being part of the Baghbazar community. It gets very busy during the festivals, especially Puja, but that’s when the area is at its best. We just keep doing our thing, one ticket at a time, for as long as we can stay here in this lane.
