Grant Lane is always crowded. Finding Room 111 on the second floor takes a minute if you aren't used to these old buildings. Omsatyai Developers Private Limited started because we saw how much people needed decent places to live in Kolkata. Our office has those tall ceilings you see in this part of town, and the fans never really stop during the summer. We keep our files in big cabinets and there is always a pot of tea somewhere. A lot of our work involves going back and forth between the office and different project sites. We deal with the municipal paperwork and the contractors every single day. It can be a headache sometimes, but it's part of the trade. We aren't a huge corporation with people in suits. We are just regular folks wearing comfortable shirts and trying to make sure the walls are straight. Sometimes clients come in just to chat about the market or check on their paperwork. We sit down, go through the folders, and explain where things stand. It gets noisy with the traffic from the street coming through the windows, but we’re used to it. We try to be practical about everything. If a pipe is leaking or a wall needs more plaster, we just go fix it. That is how we run things here on Grant Lane. We have been here for years and the local chai wallah knows exactly how we like our tea.
