Our office is tucked away at 10 Ekbalpore Road in Kolkata. We’re set up in a space looked after by Ezaz Ahmed. It’s a lively part of the city, always something happening outside on the street. Construction is what we do, day in and day out. We aren't a huge operation with a bunch of secretaries and shiny glass walls. It’s more of a hands-on kind of place. You’ll usually find someone looking over site plans or arguing on the phone about a cement delivery that’s stuck in traffic. Traffic around here can be a real headache, as anyone in Kolkata knows. We’ve got the 700023 pin code area pretty well mapped out in our heads. Most of the staff has been together for a while, so we don't need to say much to know what needs doing. We keep a lot of records in big physical binders because that’s just how we’ve always done it. Sometimes the rain gets really heavy and we have to pause things, but that’s just part of working in West Bengal. We handle the paperwork, the hiring, and the site visits from this little spot. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the supplies show up when they are supposed to. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall or anything. We just try to get the jobs finished so we can move on to the next one. It’s simple, really.
