MBA BUILCON PRIVATE LIMITED is located on the 3rd floor at 1, Meredith Street. If you know the Kolkata map, you know this is near the busy crossing. The building is one of those older ones where the stairs are a bit steep. Climbing up to the third floor every day keeps us fit, I suppose. The office is usually quite full of paper—bills, plans, and old newspapers. We don’t have a fancy reception area. You just walk in and someone will be there at a desk. We spend most of our time dealing with the logistics of building things. It involves a lot of shouting into phones because the street noise downstairs is quite loud. We are a small group of people who just know how to get things built. We don't have a website with glossy photos or anything like that. Our work is visible in the physical structures we help put up. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the roof leak a little, so we have to move the desks around. It’s just part of life in an old Kolkata building. We get our lunch from the local tiffin service and talk about the current projects. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is what we do. We’ve been in this spot for a while and the shopkeepers downstairs are all our friends now.
