Our place is on the third floor at 24/1/1 Alipore Road. Alipore is one of those parts of Kolkata that still has some big trees and a bit of space between the buildings. It is a nice change of pace compared to the downtown areas. The office itself is pretty basic. We have the third floor to ourselves and it's mostly filled with desks and a few old cabinets where we store all our records. The building has been around for a while, so the rooms have high ceilings which helps keep it cool when the sun is beating down outside. We don't have any polished marble floors or fancy artwork on the walls. It is just a place to get work done. Usually, the only sounds are the clicking of keyboards and the occasional phone call. We spend a lot of time looking at land documents and talking about different sites we are working on. There is a small balcony where some of us go to get a bit of air during the day, though it mostly just looks over the road. We aren't big on corporate meetings or anything formal. We just have a quick chat about what needs to happen and then everyone gets back to their own desk. It’s a functional space where we try to keep things running smoothly without making too much of a fuss. Once five or six o’clock rolls around, we just pack up and head out into the quiet street.
