M.Kantilal & Co

M.Kantilal & Co has been operating out of 72 Canning Street for a long time. Our office is on the first floor, specifically Room 72. If you know Canning Street, you know it is one of the busiest places you can find. The noise from the traffic and the vendors below never really stops. You have to walk up these old stairs to get to us, and the walls in the hallway could probably use a new coat of paint. Inside our room, it is mostly just desks, old filing cabinets, and a lot of paper. We handle various trading goods, mostly acting as a middleman for different products. We don’t have anything fancy like modern glass partitions. It’s just a traditional office where we do our work. The windows are usually kept shut to keep out the dust and the noise, but you can still hear the city. We have tea brought in a few times a day in those small glass cups. Most of our business is done with people we have known for decades. It is all about trust and keeping your word. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait it out, but that's just part of being in this part of town. We keep track of everything in big ledgers. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it has worked for us for a long time. We aren't looking to change much or move anywhere else soon.
