Lovely Exports

Our office is on the 3rd floor of the Mercantile Building, Block - C. If you’ve ever been to Lal Bazar Street, you know how crowded it is. The building is old and the lift is sometimes a bit moody, so we often just end up taking the stairs to the 3rd floor. Lovely Exports has been in this space for a long time. The walls are covered in old calendars and stacks of export documents that we need to sort through. We have these big windows that look out over the street, but mostly they just let in the noise of the horns. Dealing with exports means a lot of waiting for customs or bank papers. It can be frustrating. We aren't a high-tech company with fancy software. We use what works for us. There are four of us usually, sitting at desks that have seen better days. We get a lot of tea from the guy downstairs. He knows exactly how we like it. The work is mostly coordination. We talk to suppliers and then we talk to the shipping people. Things go wrong sometimes, like a container being late or a typo in a form, and then we have to fix it. It’s just regular office work in a busy part of the city. We don't have a mission statement on the wall. We just show up and do the paperwork until it is time to go home.
