Our business, Kurnoor Exports Private Limited, is located at 89 Belgachia Road in Kolkata. If you’ve ever been to Belgachia, you know it’s a busy, bustling part of the city with a lot of character. The building at number 89 has been there for a long time. It’s got high ceilings and those thick walls that keep it a bit cooler than the street outside during the summer months. We are right in the thick of things here. You can hear the trams and the buses going by all day long. It’s a very traditional part of West Bengal, and we feel like we fit right in with the local shops. Our office is mostly just desks piled with folders and samples of what we export. We don't have a lot of modern furniture; most of it is stuff we’ve used for years. It’s sturdy and it does the job. There is a certain rhythm to the day here. We start with the mail, move on to the shipping schedules, and finish up by checking the reports. We are just a local team doing our work without making much of a fuss. The local shops around us have everything we need, so we rarely have to go far for anything. It’s a good place to be if you like feeling the pulse of the city while you work. We just take it one day at a time.
