Kunal Dhawan

Kunal Dhawan is located over at P 68B on CIT Road, right in Scheme 7M in Kolkata. If you know this part of the city, you know how the humidity feels in the middle of the day. Our office is in an old building that has a lot of character, which is a nice way of saying the stairs are a bit steep and the windows rattle when a big truck goes by. We’ve got a view of the street, and it’s always interesting to see the crowd moving toward the 700054 post area. Inside, there are a few desks pushed against the walls and a lot of old ledgers and notebooks. We don't use a lot of fancy tech, just the basics to keep things moving. The walls have some damp spots from the last monsoon, but that’s just how it is in Kolkata. We spend a lot of time talking to people who drop by, often over a cup of tea that’s been sitting there too long. It’s a practical space for practical work. There’s no lobby or receptionist, just whoever is free to get the door. We usually start the day early before the heat gets too bad and try to get the bulk of the work done by mid-afternoon. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve gotten used to over the years. We’re just part of the local fabric here on CIT Road, doing our bit and dealing with the city life.
