You can find Keyal Engineering Co. on the second floor of 29 Strand Road. It’s an old building, the kind with thick walls and high ceilings that keep things a bit cooler than the street outside. Being on the second floor means we get a lot of the street noise from below, especially the horns and the shouting from the vendors near the river. The stairs are a bit of a climb if you aren't used to them. We’ve been in this part of town for years. The office inside is mostly filled with old furniture and stacks of files that we haven't quite gotten around to organizing. It’s not one of those modern glass offices you see in the newer parts of the city. We prefer it this way though. It has character. There’s a certain smell of old paper and dust that stays with you. My desk faces the window, but usually, I keep the blinds drawn because the glare is too much in the afternoon. We usually have lunch together around one. Sometimes someone brings something from home and we share it. It’s a quiet routine for the most part, unless we have a big delivery coming in or out. The location is handy because everything is close by, but the traffic on Strand Road can be a real headache if you leave at the wrong time. We just take it as it comes and try to stay productive.
