Rajarhat Road is always loud. We are located near Khalpar, specifically in the Bhatenda Badamtala area. Our shop is where all the metal work happens. You can hear the grinding machines from the street. It’s not a quiet job. The floor is usually covered in some kind of metal shavings or oil, and that’s just part of the routine. We have been here for a good amount of time. People in the neighborhood know the sound of our shutters opening in the morning. Sometimes it gets really hot in the summer because of the machines and the tin roof, but we’re used to it by now. We don't have fancy sofas or a waiting room with air conditioning. There are just some wooden stools if someone needs to sit down for a minute. The Rajarhat Road traffic is a constant backdrop to everything we do here. We just handle the repairs and the fabrication work as it comes in. It’s messy, honest work. Most of the guys have been here for years, so we all know how to work around each other without saying much. If you come by Khalpar, you’ll see us right there. We just keep our heads down and finish the projects on the bench. There isn't much more to it than that. It's a busy spot but we like it that way because it keeps the day moving quickly.
