Kay Ess Pee

Kay Ess Pee is tucked away at 2 9D Sahid Nagar in the Dhakuria area of Kolkata. It’s a typical Kolkata neighborhood with narrow streets and buildings that stand very close together. Our office is on a street that gets quite a bit of foot traffic from people heading toward the station. The walls inside are painted a pale green that has faded over the years, and we have a few heavy wooden cupboards for all our files. Because of the Kolkata weather, it gets quite damp during the monsoon, and we have to be careful with the paperwork. We have a couple of ceiling fans that hum loudly, but they are necessary to keep the air moving. It’s a small operation, and we don't have any fancy technology or automated systems. Everything is pretty much done by hand or on an old computer that takes its time to start up. We know the local tea seller and the person who runs the stationery shop nearby, so it feels like being part of a small community. Most days are spent answering the phone and writing out invoices. It’s not the kind of place you’d find in a big office park, but it works for us. We like the local vibe of Sahid Nagar, even if the traffic can be a nightmare sometimes. There is always a lot of chatter coming from the neighbors upstairs, which keeps things interesting.
