Working at Kanchan Metals means heading up to the 19th floor every morning. We are in Everest House on J.L. Nehru Road, which is a busy part of the city. Sometimes waiting for the lift takes forever, especially during the morning rush when everyone is trying to get to their desks. Once you’re up here, though, the view is alright. You can see quite a bit of the area from the windows. Our office is a mix of old desks and a lot of paperwork piled up. We deal with metals, so there is always some technical stuff to sort out or orders to track. It gets a bit hectic when the phones start ringing all at once. The staff here has been together for a long time, so we all know how each other works. We usually eat lunch together at the back table. J.L. Nehru Road is always packed with cars and people, so leaving at the end of the day is another adventure. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s just a practical workspace where we focus on the metal business. Sometimes the air conditioning is too cold, and other times it barely works, but we manage. We aren’t trying to be the biggest company out there, just trying to do our job right and keep the office running smoothly day after day.
