If you come down Ghola Kachari Road, you’ll find us at Shop No-3/1. It’s right there at Ravindra Place. The first thing you usually hear at Jnj Engineering is the sound of kids playing at the Central Modern School nearby. It gets pretty loud during their lunch break, but it makes the day go by faster. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy with the work to worry about that right now. It’s a workshop, so there is always a bit of grease and metal scraps around. I spend most of my time looking at drawings or messing with the machines. It’s a tight space, especially when we have a big project on the floor. My hands are usually dirty by nine in the morning. We don’t have a big office or a receptionist. If the door is open, it means we are working. Sometimes the power goes out in this part of town, and then we just sit outside on the bench for a bit. It’s a decent neighborhood to be in. Most of the other shopkeepers at Ravindra Place are friendly enough. We share tools sometimes. It’s not a complicated operation, just a place where things get built and fixed. We stay until the job is done for the day. This school noise is basically our alarm clock for the afternoon shift.
