J.C. Kundu & Bros. is tucked away at 27, Fakir Chakraborty Lane. If you know these old lanes in the city, you know they can be quite narrow and hard to navigate with any kind of vehicle. We have been operating from this same spot for many years, following in the footsteps of the family members who started it. The building is old and has a lot of character, even if the walls are a bit cracked and the paint is peeling here and there. We do not have a big showroom or anything like that to show off. It is mostly just storage and a small area where we sit and do our business. People come to us because they know where we are and they know how we work. It is a very traditional setup. We still handle most of our accounts in big ledgers and try to keep things simple. The lane gets very crowded during the day with people, cycles, and carts moving about. We are just a family-style business, really. There is no corporate structure or HR department here. We just show up every morning, open the heavy shutters, and get to work. Sometimes the rain leaks a little through the old roof, but we just put a bucket under it and keep going with our day. 27 Fakir Chakraborty Lane has been our home for a long time now.
