Dhiren Dhar Sarani is one of those Kolkata streets that feels like it’s been there forever. We are located at 47 B, and the building has that old character you find all over the 700012 area. Inside, it’s just a few of us and the daily work we have to do. We handle life insurance, which is mostly the boring side of things—the forms, the signatures, and checking everyone's ID documents. It involves a lot of sitting at desks and typing away at keyboards. The humidity here gets pretty bad in the summer months, so the ceiling fans are basically a lifesaver for us. We don’t have a big receptionist or a fancy lobby. If someone walks in through the door, whoever happens to be closest will just look up and say hello. We have been at this location for quite a while now. The neighborhood around us has changed a lot, but our office stays pretty much the same every year. We have a small corner for all the paper files for Icici Prudential Life Insurance Company and a few computers that have definitely seen better days. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except when the tea arrives and everyone takes a little break to talk. We don't do any marketing; people usually just know we are here at this address. It feels more like a small group of people working together than a big company. We talk about local news or the football scores. We aren't trying to impress anyone with modern furniture. As long as the chairs work, we are happy enough.
