We are located in Sounak Tower on G T Road. It’s a busy stretch in Serampur, especially during the morning commute. The building is at number 213. Being in Hooghly, we get a mix of people coming in from all over the district. The traffic outside can be quite noisy with all the buses and rickshaws going past. Inside, it's a bit quieter, though the phones ring quite a lot. We handle a lot of the usual stuff you’d expect at a bank. There’s no big fancy entrance, just the glass doors. Sometimes the elevator in the tower is out of service, so we have to use the stairs, which is good exercise I guess. The office layout is a bit cramped when it gets crowded. We have a few desks set up for the staff and a small area for customers to sit while they wait. It’s a very functional space. We’ve been here for a while and have gotten to know many of the shopkeepers on G T Road. They often pop in during the slow hours to get change or drop off their daily earnings. It feels very much like a part of the local community. We don’t go in for anything flashy. Just the basic everyday tasks. The tea lady comes by in the afternoon, which is usually the highlight of the day for most of us working here. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but it's not a priority right now.
