Down here on Dayal Krishna Mukherjee Road, things can get pretty loud and lively. Our place, Ibm, is at 4 4 in Alambazar, and it’s right in the heart of the action in Kolkata. The building has been around for a long time, and you can tell by the way the walls look and the way the floors creak a bit when you walk. We don’t mind it, though, because it gives the place some character. Every morning, we fight through the city traffic to get here and start our day. There’s a lot of back-and-forth between the staff as we try to sort out the schedule and handle the requests that come in. It’s not a polished environment by any means—we have stacks of papers everywhere and the fans are always humming in the background. We usually grab some snacks from the local vendors on the street when we need a break. It’s a very grounded way to work, and we don’t feel the need to use big words to describe it.
