We are located up on the 3rd floor of the Ratnagiri Apartment in Dum Dum Park. It’s an old building, number 152, but it has a lot of character. You have to climb the stairs if you want a bit of exercise, though the lift works most of the time. The office itself is quite simple with a few desks and some old wooden filing cabinets that have seen better days. From the window, you can see the tops of the trees in the park and hear the sounds of Kolkata life drifting up from below. We spend most of the morning going through maps and old property documents. It’s a lot of reading and making sure the details are correct. People come by to discuss their plans or just to ask about what’s available in the area. We don't have any fancy posters or corporate slogans on the walls. It’s just a place to sit down and talk through things over a cup of tea. Sometimes the overhead light flickers a bit, but we’ve gotten used to it. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, even when things get a bit hectic with all the paperwork. Being in Dum Dum Park is nice because it feels a bit more open than the very center of the city. We have our regular routine and we stick to it, keeping things moving along without much fuss. It’s just a regular local office where the staff knows people by their first names.
