Harimitti Agro Private Limited is located over at 56 Nimu Gossain Lane in Kolkata. If you’ve ever walked down that street, you know it’s pretty narrow and can get really crowded with people and handcarts moving things all day long. Our office is just a simple place where we try to manage the agricultural work we do across the region. It isn't a big glass building or anything fancy like that. Most of the time, the main desk is covered with soil samples and old registers. We started out small and we’ve mostly stayed that way because we like knowing everyone we work with. The humidity in this part of Kolkata can be really tough in the summer months, so we usually have a fan rattling away in the corner while we look over the latest crop reports. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the steps and talk to the neighbors until it comes back on. Our focus is really just on the day-to-day tasks of getting seeds and tools to the people who need them. We don't have anyone to make things look pretty for the internet. It’s mostly just us answering the phone and trying to keep the paperwork straight. It gets dusty in here with all the bags of samples coming in from the fields, but that’s just part of the job. We've been at this address for a while now and most people in the neighborhood know us by name.
