Halaram'S

Our spot is on the first floor of 15 Mullick Street. If you have ever walked through this part of Kolkata, you know how packed the lanes are. It is a very old building with high ceilings and thick walls that hold the heat during the summer months. You have to climb up a narrow set of stairs to reach us. Once you are inside, it is a different world from the chaos of the street below. We have desks tucked into corners and shelves filled with ledgers and samples. Halaram’S has been around this area for a while, and we have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, though Mullick Street always stays busy. The windows do not let in much light because the buildings are so close together, so we keep the lights on all day. It is not the most modern office you will ever see, but it works for what we do. We usually have a lot of people coming in and out, mostly folks we have known for years. There is always someone making tea or chatting about the weather. We do not really do the whole polished corporate thing. We just focus on the work at hand and try to stay cool under the fans. It gets pretty loud with the shouting from the market downstairs, but after a while, you just stop noticing it. It is just home for our business.
