Gujrani Co

Up on the second floor of 1 24 Regent Colony in Kolkata, that’s where you’ll find us. It’s right in the Regent Park area, so it’s got that old Kolkata feel to it. We’ve been operating Gujrani Co from here for a bit now. The stairs can be a bit steep if you aren't used to them, but it’s good exercise for the legs. Our space is pretty basic. We’ve got a couple of desks, some chairs that have seen better days, and a lot of ledgers and notebooks. It’s not the kind of place with air conditioning in every room, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes off the street. Dealing with the day-to-day business means we talk to a lot of local suppliers and neighbors. There is a tea stall nearby where we usually get our afternoon snacks and have a quick chat. It’s a small operation, really. We don’t have a big marketing team or anyone fancy like that. Just us handling the orders and making sure things get sent out to the right places on time. Sometimes the rain gets really heavy and we have to make sure the windows are shut tight so the papers don’t get wet or blown around. It’s a simple life here in the colony. We know the people around us and they know us. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing.
