Our branch is located at 31 Chowringee Road, right in the heart of the Park Street area. It’s a very old and famous part of Kolkata, so the building has that classic feel to it. Even though the name is big, our day-to-day here is pretty standard. We’ve got people coming in and out all day looking at different products, from cupboards to office chairs. The traffic on Chowringee is always a nightmare, so we hear honking from morning until night. Inside, it’s a bit calmer, but there’s always something going on. We have a small staff who have been here for a long time. We know the history of this street and how much it’s changed over the years. The floors are polished but you can tell they’ve seen a lot of footsteps. We don’t use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just show people what we have and help them find what they need. Sometimes the elevator in the building is slow, so we end up taking the stairs a lot. It’s a busy place with a lot of energy. We spend our lunch breaks at the small stalls nearby or just eating at our desks if it’s a hectic day. It’s an iconic spot to work, but at the end of the day, it’s just us doing our jobs in a very busy city.
