Our spot is over on Santosh Roy Road in Calcutta, right near James Long Sarani. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know it gets pretty crowded and noisy with all the traffic passing by. Antar Fashions operates out of a building here at number 33. It’s not a huge, gleaming skyscraper, just a regular place where we spend most of our time dealing with fabrics and orders. The fans are always humming to keep the heat at bay while we check through the lists of what needs to go out. Calcutta has that specific energy, and we definitely feel it here every day. We’ve been part of the Global Trade Forum setup for some time now, but our day-to-day is very much about the local grind. There’s always someone coming in or out with a delivery or a sample. We drink a lot of tea while we work through the details of the fashion trade. It’s not glamorous work, despite what people think about the clothing industry. Most of it is just making sure the numbers match and the quality is okay before anything leaves the door. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches for us. We just do the work, talk to our suppliers, and try to keep things organized in a city that can be quite chaotic. It is a long day usually, but we get things done and come back tomorrow to do it again.
