Global Commodity Exports

Our office is at 3 Pretoria Street. It’s an old building, but it has a lot of character even if the paint is peeling a bit. Global Commodity Exports has been here for a long time now. It’s a busy street with lots of cars, but once you’re inside the office, it’s a bit quieter. We spend most of our time on the phone or looking at those long shipping schedules. Commodities can be tricky because the prices change every single day. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls here. It’s mostly just maps and old calendars. The desks are always cluttered with papers because there’s always a lot of documentation needed for exporting things out of the country. We have a small team, and we’ve all worked together for a lot of years. We know each other's habits and how we like our tea. Some days we are here until very late waiting for calls from different time zones. It’s just how the business works when you deal with people far away. We drink a lot of tea and try to keep things organized, even when it feels like everything is happening at once. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s interesting to see where the products end up. We don't do much advertising at all. People find us through word of mouth or old connections they have. We just try to make sure the containers get where they need to go without too much trouble. It’s a lot of practical work and making sure the numbers add up.
