We are over at No.3, 2nd Street, right across from Textool in Ganapathy. G-Tech Engineering is basically a workshop where there’s always something being welded or drilled. The floor is concrete and usually has some metal shavings or oil spots on it, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a loud place, and the heat from the machines makes it pretty sweaty work in the middle of the day. We don’t wear suits here. Most of us are in work clothes that have seen better days. When a customer comes in, we usually just talk to them right there on the shop floor while things are moving around us. We don’t have a separate waiting room or anything like that. If you need something fixed or made, you just come in and tell us. We’ve got some old machines that still work better than the new ones, and we spend a lot of time maintaining them. The neighborhood is full of small shops like ours, so there’s always a bit of a community feel. We help each other out with tools or advice when things get tricky. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. We take things one day at a time and try to keep the quality where it needs to be without making a big fuss about it.
