Our office is on Selimpur Road, right in the Dhakuria part of Kolkata. It is number 101 8. If you know the area, you know it's a busy spot with lots of people moving around. Emcons Management Consultant Pvt Ltd is just a small group of us working out of this space. We have been here in India for years now. The building is an older one, which we like because it feels solid and has some character. There is a lot of noise from the street sometimes, cars honking and people shouting, but we get used to it. Inside, it's mostly just the sound of typing and the occasional phone ringing. We don't have any fancy decorations or a reception desk with a uniform. You just walk in and someone will be there at a desk. We spend most of our time dealing with management paperwork and helping people figure out their business structures. It is steady work. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to do a decent job so we can go home at the end of the day. Lunch is usually brought from home in tiffin carriers. We sit around and talk about things like the weather or the local football scores. Sometimes we stay late if a project is dragging on, but mostly we try to keep regular hours. It is a practical way to run things. Selimpur is a good place to be.
