Our place is on the second floor of 18 Zakaria Street in Kolkata. If you’ve ever been to this street, you know it’s one of the busiest places in the city, especially with all the food stalls and the crowds. It’s a very old area, and our building has that weathered look that comes with time. We work in media, which sounds fancy, but our office is pretty basic. We have some desks pushed against the walls and a lot of cables running across the floor for our computers. The noise from the street below always drifts up through the windows, so it’s never truly quiet here. We kind of like the energy of the place, though. You can smell the kebabs and the spices from the nearby shops all day long. It’s not a polished environment by any means. There’s dust on the shelves and the paint is peeling a little in the corners. We don't have a board of directors or anything like that. It’s just a handful of us trying to put together content and manage our projects. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, just like everyone else on the block. We don't try to impress people with a big office. We just focus on the screens in front of us. It’s a gritty, real place to work and it keeps us grounded.
